Denis Collins has announced his intention to seek the post of 1st District Bradley County commissioner, which includes Hopewell, Prospect and McDonald communities.

Collins, a Republican, has more than 40 years experience in finance. He graduated from Tennessee Wesleyan College with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.

He is a graduate of The Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University and attended Vanderbilt University, completing several areas of banking and finance.

“Ed Elkins has proven to be great to our county by his education and ability to interpret a budget. Ed’s decision to not seek another term concerned me greatly,” Collins said.

“I wish to continue what Ed has done, which is to be very frugal with the taxpayers’ money.”

Collins has been married to Pam for 42 years. He has three children, Heather, Denny and Taylor. He attends Wesleyan United Methodist Church.

Collins is proud to have Bryan Gentry as his treasurer.

“I ask for your vote and confidence on May 6 in the Republican primary,” Collins said.
