With the help of social media and quick response, Detective Cody Hinson, Lt. Robert Harbison and detectives of the Criminal Investigations Division of the Cleveland Police Department arrested a man who reportedly robbed a local convenience store Wednesday afternoon.
Ethan Bowers, 23, was charged Thursday afternoon.
According to Evie West, information officer for CPD, Harbison received a tip regarding a possible suspect “involved in the armed robbery at the Pilot Travel Center,” located on Pleasant Grove Road near Interstate 75 at Exit 20.
The suspect had entered the store Wednesday just before 2 p.m. Store officials noted on video security footage that after entering the store and announcing a demand for money, the suspect left the store and drove away in what appeared to be a Nissan Altima.
A number of eyewitnesses gave descriptions of the suspect and the possible getaway car, according to initial reports at the scene.
While following up on the tip, detectives observed a Nissan Altima matching the description of the car at the scene.
Bowers also matched the description of the suspect captured on video security cameras, according to West.
Images of the suspect were placed on social media and news outlet websites.
Bowers was placed into custody and transported to the Cleveland Police Department.
“He (Bowers) confessed to the robbery. Bowers was cooperative and a large portion of the stolen cash was recovered,” West noted.
Bowers has been charged with aggravated robbery and theft.
He was transported to the Bradley County Jail where he was booked on the charges.
