Pauline Garner, 86, a resident of Chattanooga, passed away Friday, Feb. 14, 2014.

She was born on July 25, 1927, in Glenwood, Ariz., to the late George and Callie Tackett.

She resided in Chattanooga for the past three years, coming from Lompoc, Calif. She was of the Baptist faith and served as church secretary at Landmark Missionary Baptist in Lompoc for over 40 years.

She was a teacher at Hapgood Elementary School in Lompoc for 20-plus years.

In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Vance Garner.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory one son, Bruce Garner (Lee) of Chattanooga; sister, Ruth Horn of Houston, Texas; granddaughter, Brittany Garner (Noah Pettus); two great-grandchildren: Luke Pettus and Violet Pettus; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.

Funeral will be held Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, at the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary in Lompoc with a burial to follow in the Lompoc District Cemetery in Lompoc.
