Peggie A. Coleman Brooks, 76, a lifelong resident of Cleveland and the Tasso community, passed away Wednesday morning, Feb. 5, 2014, in a Chattanooga hospital.
She was born on Jan. 23, 1938, a daughter of the late James L. and Ethel Haney Coleman.
She was of the Baptist faith. She was a caregiver in the home health and hospice industry and ministered to many patients and families during their illness.
She will be forever remembered and loved by the many families for whom she cared. She was a huge animal lover, enjoyed the great outdoors, the annual turning of the leaves and simply just enjoying God’s wonderful creations.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Martha Dean Swafford and Billie Mae Coleman; and two brothers: Wayne Montgomery Coleman and Jimmy Lee Coleman.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory one daughter, Linda A. Martin of Chattanooga; one son and daughter-in-law, Colonel Roger Books USAF (RET) and Kayla Brooks of Tucson, Ariz.; eight grandchildren: Matthew Martin, Christopher Martin, Belinda Martin, Amanda Martin, Zachary Brooks, Jordan Brooks, Bethany Brooks and Daniel Brooks; one brother, Ronald Coleman; several other extended family; and a host of special friends.
A celebration of her life is planned for Saturday morning, Feb. 8, 2014, in the parlor of Companion Funeral Home, 2415 Georgetown Road in Cleveland with Pastor Steve Ross officiating.
The family will receive friends in the parlor on Saturday morning from 9 until the 11 a.m. service time.
The family will hold a private burial.
