He was a member of Parkway Baptist Church. He was an accomplished guitarist and enjoyed carpentry work. He also loved being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was retired from Bendix Corporation.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Casteel; parents, Thomas H. and Lillie Hurst Casteel; sisters: Alene Ingle, Leola Wilson and Christine Brooks; and brothers: Earl Casteel and Willie Lee Casteel.
He is survived by his children: Deborah Hefner of Nashville, Sonya Richmond and Angela Eisele, both of Cleveland; three grandchildren: Ashley Hefner, Colin Hefner and Dakota Wells; and two great-grandchildren: Kaedyn Cobb and Keeli Cobb.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Brooks officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service.
The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home prior to the service.
