John Barry Westmoreland, 52, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, passed away on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 25, 2014, in a Chattanooga hospital.

He was born on July 14, 1961, in Rome, Ga. He was of the Christian faith.

He was a painter by trade. but also enjoyed using his mechanic skills to fix anything from lawn mowers to cars and motorcycles. He enjoyed riding four wheelers, fishing and going to yard sales.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford H. Roberts; and one sister, Jeana Shirley.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving mother, Martha J. Roberts; three sisters: Pam Fain (Gary), Janet Cheek (Eddie) and Jane Kesley; one brother, Steve Carter; numerous other extended family members; and a host of special friends.

A memorial gathering is planned for Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, from 3 to 5 p.m., in the parlor of Companion Funeral Home located at 2415 Georgetown Road N.W. in Cleveland.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in John’s memory to the Kidney Foundation.
