During October club meetings, more than 2,000 youth in Bradley County 4-H set savings goals and learned about a contest to encourage saving.
Piggy Bank Pageant is a contest for youth to construct their own banks.
The guidelines for the contest are that the bank could not be larger than 12 inches by 12 inches, had to be handmade (not bought and decorated) and could be made of any material and be in any form.
In November, more than 500 piggy banks were submitted and the winners advanced to the County Piggy Bank Pageant.
Bradley County 4-H members competed in the County Piggy Bank Pageant on Jan. 11, at Bradley Square Mall. More than 75 banks were displayed at the contest and over 300 votes were given from the community.
