Charles A. Hamby, 54, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday morning, Jan. 14, 2014, at the family residence.
He was the son of the late Ruthell Callahan Hamby and William Arthur Hamby. His sisters: Carolyn Wilson and Diane Hopkins also preceded him in death.
He was an upholsterer most of his life and worked for Brewer Upholstery and then Brown Stove Works. He enjoyed going to Florida to the beach and riding his motorcycle and antique cars. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a member of the Galilee Baptist Church.
Survivors include his sons: Charles D. Hamby and his wife, Christina, Christopher Hamby and his wife, Nalani, and Matthew Hamby; his grandchildren: Gabriel and Lillie Hamby; his sisters: Ellen Bradley and her husband, John “J. T.” Bradley, Peggy Payne and her husband, Dale, Barbara Hamby, Pat Fortenberry and her husband, Howard; his brothers: Larry Hamby and his wife, Wanda, Timmy Hamby, Edward Coalson and Jimmy Coalson and his wife, Mary; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
The Remembrance of Life service will be held Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at 2 p.m. from the Oakhill Baptist Church in Rydal, Ga. with Pastor Justin Payne officiating.
Interment will follow in the Oakhill Baptist Church Cemetery with Joshua Kelly, Josh Hardin, Tyler Washington, Nick Sanislo, Jacob Payne and Nathaniel Payne serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at the North Ocoee Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes.
