Jody Alan Hughes, 25, has been charged with assault and aggravated burglary.
According to a report released by Capt. David Shoemaker of the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division, authorities searched for Hughes, then received a 911 call from a Bell Road resident who said she heard noises in her basement.
The resident confronted Hughes and then her husband reportedly held him at gunpoint.
Deputies arrested Hughes and transported him to the Bradley County Jail where he was booked on the charges.
- Bradley County Fire-Rescue personnel responded to a house fire in the Tasso community Tuesday evening.
According to Chief Troy Maney, the structure was located in Whisperwood.
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
Maney said the split-level style home suffered an estimated $50,000 in damage to the kitchen and living room areas.
Bradley County Road Department officials also responded to the area to put down salt due to icing conditions created as firefighters fought the blaze.
BCFR also responded to a crash on Spring Place Road and Keith Valley Road where a truck pulling a gooseneck trailer was reportedly rear-ended by a passenger vehicle.
Maney said the female driver of the vehicle had to be extricated prior to Bradley County Emergency Medical Service transporting her to the hospital.
Cleveland Fire Department officials responded to a number of alarm calls Tuesday, mostly because of burst water pipes.
Just after midnight, a single-vehicle crash stopped traffic on Interstate 75.
Tennessee Highway Patrol is in charge of the investigation.
Witnesses noted a red pickup truck had significant damage.
According to CFD Chief Steve Haun, firefighters extricated the driver who reportedly refused treatment from Bradley County Emergency Medical Service and first responders.
