The William Hall Rodgers Christmas Basket Fund total now stands at $26,728, after $4,217 was added this week.

The Basket Fund is financed entirely by donations from the residents of the area. The money is used to fill boxes of food staples for families during the Christmas holidays.

The goal was $28,000. This was to pay for the items placed in the 1,068 boxes.

The fund, which is a 501(c)(3), is a volunteer-supported effort.

Making donations this week were Hal and Andrea Roe, $100; David and Ellen Smith, $1,000; Katherine and Roy Kelsey, $500; Cooke’s Food Store, $2,417; Barbara and Walter Peterson, $200. There were other donations given by Jerry Crowder and sisters Mary Lou Weaver of Kakomo, Ind., and Shirley Harrison of Wildwood, Fla., and Mr. and Mrs. Paul  Mathews, however, amounts were not listed.

Donations may be mailed to First Tennessee Bank, P.O. Box 4880, Cleveland TN 37320-4880 or dropped off at First Tennessee Bank at 3870 Keith St.
