Arnold Thomas Rumbolt, 91, of Knoxville, died Monday, Dec., 23, 2013. He was born on Feb. 8, 1922.

It is with a mixture of sadness and great joy that we that we announce the passing of our dad, Dr. Arnold Thomas Rumbolt. He was the best dad one could have on this earth. He is already greatly missed. He was the only son of William and Martha Rumbolt of Rock Island, Ill. He was a long time doctor of chiropractic in Knoxville.

He graduated from The Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. He was a former treasurer of the Tennessee Valley Chiropractic Association. During World War II, he was a sargeant In the U.S. Army 256th Ordinance Evacuation Company.

Papa was an avid fisherman and a master mechanic. He loved Douglas Lake where he fished most often with his longtime friend and mailman, Frank (Red) Roberts. He claimed he could fix everything but a broken heart. He was a long-time member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church.

He survived his wife of 54 years, Eyloe; and sister, Rose Vanderbeke.

He is survived by sisters: Lucille Tarpy and Betty Baxter of Rock Island, Ill.; sons: Robin Rumbolt (Sherrie) and Dr. Shawn Rumbolt (Carol), all of Knoxville; daughters: Dawn Robinson (Dr. Don) of Cleveland, and Toni McAfoos of Friendswood, Texas; 12 grandchildren: SSgt Jonathan Rumbolt, USMC, (Allison), Tami Jones (Chris), Katie Blanchard (Matt), Mandy Kilpatrick (Jacob), JB Robinson, GySgt Chris Robinson, USMC, (Brenna), Colby Robinson (Jenny), Laura McAfoos Dittmar (David), Amy Fergus (Charlie), Brian McAfoos, Kevin and Matthew Rumbolt; and his great-grandchildren: Cara, Caleb, Camryn, and Amos Jones, Alyssa Marshall, Hannah Rumbolt, Haley Blanchard, Gabe, Asher and Lucy Kilpatrick, Thomas and Molly Robinson, Aubrey and Hazel Robinson, Elise Fergus and baby Dittmar.

A funeral Mass will be held, Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, at 10 a.m. at Holy Ghost Catholic Church on N. Central Ave. in Knoxville, followed by burial at 11:30 a.m. at the Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery (Lyons View Pike).
