Perry “Vernon” Renner, 74, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, joined his Lord and Savior in his Heavenly home suddenly on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013.

He was born in Greenville on Nov. 1, 1939, a son of the late Marvin and Edna Renner. His family moved to this area when Vernon was a small child. He attended the Grasshopper Road Church of God.

He was retired from the Hardwick Stove Company after 46 years of service. He loved fishing and was a member of the local Bass Masters Club, a local beekeeper who took pride in offering his customers the “cleanness honey in town,” an avid bow hunter and a real outdoorsman. He, however, will be most remembered for being a devoted Christian and a true man of God.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Carl Renner.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of more than 55 years, Billie Scott Renner; three sisters: Rebecca Varnell, Janie Torbett (Robert) and Mary Ruth McCracken (Bill) of Delano; a brother, Glenn Renner (Shirley); and other extended family members, church family and a host of special friends.

A celebration of his life is planned Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at 6 p.m., at the Grasshopper Road Church of God, located at 6509 Grasshopper Road in Birchwood, with the Revs. Johnny Raper and James Long officiating.

The family will receive friends following the memorial service.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to the Grasshopper Road Church of God in Vernon’s memory.

You are encouraged to share a memory of Vernon and/or your personal condolences with his family by visiting his memorial web page and guestbook at

Companion Funeral Home and the Cody family are honored to assist the Renner family with these arrangements.
