Bruce Alvin Delmas, 79, of Athens, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013.

He made Athens his home for the more than twenty years, moving here from New Jersey. He was born in Mile City, Mont. on May 25, 1934, a son of the late George and Ruth Delmas. He was a retired structural iron worker with more than 35 years before retirement from the Local 373 in New Jersey.

He was a member of the Allen Memorial United Methodist Church, a Mason and member of the Meridian Son Lodge No. 50, a member of the Athens Elks Lodge, past president of the Chilhowee Shrine and active in the McMinn Senior Center. He was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army after faithfully serving his country during the Korean War. His hobbies included playing the guitar, motorcycles and woodworking to name a few.

In addition to his parents, Bruce is preceded in death by sister, Beverly; brother, Richard; and one grandson, Michael Gilluly.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of more than 30 years, Carolyn Renee Delmas; daughter, Lori Lorio and her husband, Sam; stepdaughter, Lori Cinelli and her husband, Jay; stepson, Danny Murphy and his wife. Claire; eight grandchildren: Johnathan Penn, Taylor and Anthony Cinelli, Casey, Christopher, Katie and Sammy Lorio and Daniel Liam Murphy; and several other extended family members and a host of special friends.

A celebration of his life will be held Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at 7 p.m., at the Allen Memorial United Methodist Church in Athens.
