The enchanting Christmas ballet, “The Nutcracker,” was recently performed by students of Tennessee Youth Ballet under the direction of artistic director Heidi Longwith.

Capacity crowds filled Lee University’s Dixon Center for three performances as flurries of snowflakes and visions of sugarplums graced the stage.

“The Nutcracker”tells the story of a beautiful girl named Clara who is given a magical nutcracker doll on Christmas Eve. She encounters mischievous mice before embarking on a journey through the Land of Snow and Kingdom of Sweets.

Young and old alike experienced the production’s many special effects and dazzling costumes as they were transported to the captivating world of the “Nutcracker.”

During one performance, the gasps of more than 500 wide-eyed elementary students from Cleveland City Schools and Tennessee Preparatory School could be heard as they were transported to a captivating world of adventure.
