Sixth-grade OMS Colts win tourney opener

After posting a 12-5 record during the regular season, the Ocoee Middle sixth-grade boys opened the annual Christmas Tournament at OMS with a decisive victory.

The young Colts trounced McCallie 37-19 Monday, utilizing a smothering full court press and a balanced offensive attack.

Saylor Clark, Ashton Boyd and Blake Campbell paced the victors with 10, nine and eight points respectively, while Braden Davis and Trae Gober netted four points apiece.

Coach Ed Coates said he is very pleased with the progress the team has made toward the end of the season, with a five-game winning streak before losing the regular-season finale to Cleveland Middle.

Ocoee will face county-rival Lake Forest this evening at 8:30 in the second round of the holiday event.

OMS wins over LF

The Ocoee Middle eighth-grade Lady Colts defeated Lake Forest on Monday night 32-9.

Both teams played very hard with Lauren Lay leading the way for OMS with nine points while Carly Buckner followed with seven. Macey Clark, Lindsey Wyatt, and Emily Anderson each scored four points, while Haley Jones and McKenzie Hall added two each.
