The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is aiding the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office in the investigation of a death that was reported late Friday evening.

According to Kristin Helm, information officer with TBI, the agency was requested to respond to 172 Moore Circle after the body of a female was found inside the home.

Helm identified the woman as Laura Matthews, 30.

BCSO Chief Deputy Wayne Bird said the assistance of the TBI was suggested by the 10th Judicial District Attorney General’s office. Initial responders to the scene found out the person who made the discovery was a corrections officer at the Bradley County Jail, according to Bird.

Helm said TBI responded agents from its crime lab to aid at the scene.

An autopsy is to be performed to help determine the manner of death and the investigation is continuing, according to Helm.

Additional details will be released as the investigation continues, according to officials at the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office.
