He currently serves as president of Alliance for Hispanic Education with the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference and was recently recognized with the NHCLC “Excellence in Leadership Award.”

During Campo’s five-year term at Regent, the university saw increased enrollment and became the first institution in Virginia to receive an “A” rating from the American Council of Trustees and Alumni.

Campo holds the doctorate degree in English from University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he was a member of the faculty before beginning administrative duties.

He is a blogger for the Huffington Post and a member of a number of professional organizations, including the Arthur Miller Society, the International Shakespeare Association, President's Pastoral Circle, World Affairs Council and the Urban League of Hampton Roads, Va.

Now residing in Chesapeake, Va., Campo and his wife of 33 years, Karen, have three adult children.

The December commencement is one of three graduation exercises each year at Lee. This annual event is a colorful ceremony that combines the music and decorations of the Christmas season with traditional commencement activities.

More than 200 graduates will receive degrees in Saturday’s ceremony, which will also include music by the Lee University Chorale.

Activities will begin on Friday evening with a commissioning service at 6:30 in the Conn Center.

Guests and graduates will hear short speeches from six class representatives who will reflect on their experiences as Lee students.

A Graduate Hooding Ceremony for masters and education specialists will take place in the Lee Chapel on Friday at 4:30 p.m.

All commencement and commissioning activities will be available for viewing via live stream at http://leeuniversity.edu/video/.
