Geraldine “Jerri” Overby Cox, 75, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, passed away Friday morning, Dec. 6, 2013.

She was born on Sept. 20, 1938, a daughter of the late Tim and Ruby Overby.

She was of the Christian faith. She enjoyed gardening and was a loving and devoted homemaker working along the side of her late husband.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronnie Cox; and five brothers: T. J. Overby, Lester “Billy” Overby, Harlen Overby, Bobby Overby and Billy Overby.

She is survived by three sons: Gary Cox, Alan Cox and Michael Cox; one daughter, Lynn Cox; one sister, Ona Lee Lawson; one brother and his wife, Jimmy and Diane Overby of Conyers, Ga.; a lifelong friend, Brenda Clabough; four grandchildren; numerous other extended family members; and a host of special friends.

A memorial gathering to celebrate her life is planned for Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Pearney’s Place, located at 2206 Dalton Pike in Cleveland.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made in Jerri’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
