Lura Mae Carter, 71, of Cleveland, passed away Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, at her home.
She will be welcomed by her late husband, Pete Carter of 54 years.
She was a dedicated homemaker. She was a loving wife, mother, mamaw, great-grandmother and best friend. Her door was always open, putting others needs before her own. She will be greatly missed, never forgotten and will always remain in our hearts.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James “Pete” Carter; parents, Lloyd Curtis and Lima Stillwell; daughter, Darlene Carter; sisters: Ruth Anderson and Imogene Waddell; and one brother, Bobby Curtis.
She is survived by her children: Brenda (Bobby) Beavers, Linda (Dennis) Wilson and Charlotte Ann Ooten, all of Cleveland and Shelbie Burchfield of Etowah; grandchildren: Carrie (Bobby) Carr of Ooltewah and William Beavers, Brittany (Laura Dunn) Bacon, Jeremy Beavers, Bridgette Ooten, Ashley Wilson and Amber Wilson, all of Cleveland; great-grandchildren: Aiden Carr, Carlee Beavers, Marlee Wilson, Maliki Wilson and Sebastain Ooten; sister, Ruby (Ralph) Kephart; brother, James “Jimmy” Curtis; and several nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
In honor of her request, her body will be donated to science. There will be no formal service or visitation at this time.
