The William Hall Rodgers Basket Fund total stands at $5,498, after $450 more in donations were received.

The basket fund has a goal of $28,000 to fill the approximately 1,000 Christmas boxes for needy families.

For decades, the needy have received food staples from the community via the William Hall Rodgers Basket Fund. The fund has no corporate sponsors. The money to pay for the boxes of food staples come from volunteers in the community.

Donating this week were Broad Street Methodist Church Kelly Class, $100; D.C. Cox, $100; Dortha Townsend, $100; Jim and Mary Nowack, $50; and anonymous, $100.
