An aggravated assault charge in June landed a man in jail but while he was incarcerated, he allegedly made plans to have his ex-wife killed.
Victor Dale Thomas, 56, was indicted by a Bradley County grand jury last week.
According to officials at the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office, Thomas has been in jail since June 25 on charges of failure to appear in court in connection with the aggravated assault case and possession of Schedule II narcotics, as well as theft by worthless check.
Bob Gault, media-relations coordinator for BCSO said Thomas’s ex-wife was the victim in the aggravated assault case allegations.
Investigators learned Thomas approached another inmate about killing his ex-wife “after he was released from custody.”
“He notified correction officers of the conversation, and they in turn contacted the Criminal Investigations Division at the Sheriff’s Office,” Gault noted.
According to Gault, after four months of investigation, the findings were presented to a grand jury, resulting in an indictment for solicitation to commit first-degree murder.
Thomas has been arraigned in Bradley County Criminal Court and remains incarcerated at the Bradley County Jail.
