Raiders take first at Invitational

The Cleveland Middle School wrestling team finished first at the Ocoee Invitational wrestling tournament, Saturday. The Blue Raiders had 10 medalists with three champions, five runners-up, one third place, and one fourth place.

The Cleveland Middle School Wrestling Team finished on top of the very competitive Ocoee Invitational on Saturday.

The Raiders had 10 medalists with three champions, five Runners up, one third place, and one fourth place. The champions were Garrett Bowers, Logan Whiteside, and Nyzaya Vincent. The Runners up were Cody Mathews, Austin Sweeney, Jack Hicks, Kevin Martinez, and Caleb Flickner. Bryce Pond was the third-place medalist and Nathan Strickland finished in fourth place.

The Raiders claimed the championship title with a team score of 181 points. Rounding out the top four teams were Baylor with 160.5 points, Heritage (Ga.) with 135.5, and McCallie 134 points.

The OMS Raiders will wrestle again Thursday at Cleveland High School against Westside (Ga.) at 5 p.m. Following the middle school action, Cleveland High School will open its season against Northwest Whitfield. The JV will wrestle at 6 and Varsity at 7.
