She has not ruled out other opportunities for public service in the future.
“After an extraordinary amount of reflection and consideration, I am announcing today that I will not be a candidate for re-election for Bradley County Commission,” Wilson said.
“It has been an incredible honor and privilege to serve the people of the second district for the past 12 years.”
Wilson, a Republican, was elected to the County Commission in 2002. In her role as commissioner, she has served as chairwoman of both the Finance and Education committees. During her tenure on the Commission, Park View Elementary School became a reality as well as renovations at Valley View Elementary School. Also, Bradley County Fire-Rescue was elevated from part time to a full-time department. Enhancements and renovations to Cleveland Bradley County Public Library were completed. Also, construction was completed on the Bradley County Justice Center.
Wilson said she is making the announcement now to allow qualified candidates for the 2nd District seat to begin the petition process.
Wilson thanked her constituents in her Bradley County district for the opportunity to represent them during these past 12 years on the County Commission.
