Louise G. Walker, 86, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013, in a local health care facility.
She was born June 12, 1927, in Eden, N.C., to the late Sanford and Nanny Cox Gibson. She was the wife of the late Rev. William D. Walker of Danville, Va., who passed away Jan. 15, 2013. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Douglas Gibson; and a sister, Margaret Gibson Hudson.
She was a member of the Westmore Church of God where she served for many years as leader for young girls in the Joy Belles. She was a pastor’s wife and homemaker.
She worked for 14 years at Pathway Book Store in Cleveland and was an excellent seamstress and cook. She also worked with her husband in the tape ministries and more recently expanded her support of the Church of God Children’s Home in Concord, N.C., to include sponsorship of a child named Aniyah.
Survivors include her sons: David R. Walker and his wife, Ruth, of Cleveland, Mike Walker and his wife, Gwendolyn, of Concord, and Jonathan Walker of Virginia Beach Va.; grandchildren: Dava Carol Peoples of Hoover, Ala., Aleta Dawn Chase of Cleveland, USAF Maj. Michael Walker of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Christopher Walker of Stamford Conn., and Ami Michelle Currin of Cleveland; five great-grandchildren; brothers: Jack Gibson, Joel Gibson and Jim Gibson; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Remembrance of Life service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, at the North Ocoee Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Home with Pastor Wendell Smith and Dr. Dan Black officiating.
Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requestst donations be made to the Church of God Children’s Home of North Carolina, 3485 Orphanage Circle, Concord NC 28027.
