The Friends of the Library Association will be hosting an Antique and Rare Book Silent Auction at the Craigmiles-Johnston House History Branch on Nov. 17, from 2 to 4 p.m.

Biographies, essays, primers, classics, humor, serials, history ... almost all pre-date 1920, before ISBN numbers were assigned to books. Many are first editions and some have dust jackets, leather bindings, intricate tool-work and gold leaf.

Just in time for your holiday shopping, consider giving a gift to the bibliophile in your family.

The auction is open to the public. The books will be available for viewing and bidding until 3:30 p.m., and then the silent auction pads will be removed and winners announced.

The library’s Teen Advisory Group members will be serving as FOLA's volunteers for this event. A portion of the proceeds will be used to help enclose the library's Teen Zone with glass windows and doors.
