7 Mustangs post personal best times at region

Last week the Walker Valley cross county team competed in the Region 3-AAA championship meet at Fort Bluff Camp in Dayton.

During the championship, seven runners set new personal best times.

For the girls, freshman Sierra Green led the way with a time of 24:19, while senior Rachel Tarver finished the race in 25:05.

Katelyn Martin, a freshman, had a time of 35:17.

For the varsity boys, two juniors led the Walker Valley herd. Jimmy Ortiz finished with a time of 19:26, with Mason McClure coming in at 19:32.

Freshman John Hixon completed the race in 19:34, while sophomore Joseph Munoz came in seconds later, at 19:37.

Junior Will Burgess finished with a time of 20:09 and sophomore C.J. Mccullough finished with a time of 20:26.

Ryan Hager, a senior, completed the 5K race with a time of 21:50.

In junior varsity competition, freshmen Tyler Hollis and Justin Gregory led the Mustangs with times of 21:24 an 21:53 respectively.

Junior Bobby Chaffin completed the race with a time of 22:01, while freshman Andrew Spruill came in at 24:02.

Senior Shaye Halcomb finished in 24:04, and junior Harrison Smith finished the race with a time of 29:38.
