Bruce “Sonny” Hooper Jr., 73, of Cleveland, passed away at a local health care facility Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013, surrounded by friends and family.

He was born on April 30, 1940, in Hamilton County to the late Bruce William Hooper Sr. and Mabel Morgan Hooper.

He was of the Baptist faith. He loved fishing, making a big garden, the Atlanta Braves, Tennessee Vols football and watching his grandsons play ball. He will forever be remembered as a very loving man, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Bernard Hooper.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 51 years, JoAnn Hooper; one son, Jim Hughes; one daughter, Debbie Hughes Carlton (Tom); one sister, Lillian Hall (Lynn); one grandson, Jeremy Mason Chastain (Missy); one granddaughter, Heather Mason Frye; two great-grandsons: Hunter Chastain and Bailey Frye; and several extended family members and friends.

The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
