He was preceded in death by his father, Charles R. Swanner Sr.; mother, Mary Whiteside Swanner; grandparents; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is survived by his wife, Angelia Swanner; sister, Janice Ford; niece, Brandy Ford Yarber and her husband, Bryan Yarber; nephew, Luke Ford; niece, Whisper Manes; one stepson, Tony Duggan; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was an avid fisherman and loved being outdoors and on the river. He was a diesel mechanic for McClendon Trucking and also a truck driver for Duggan Logging, and before retirement worked for Red Hot Battery.
He will be greatly and sadly missed by his family and all his friends.
A service celebrating his life will be held today, Oct. 15, 2013, at 3 p.m. at Berean Baptist Church with the Dr. Roger Wagner officiating.
