Dan Howell, longtime executive assistant to Bradley County Mayor D. Gary Davis, has reported he will take a leave of absence from the mayor's office effective Nov. 8.

The county official said he will disclose his future plans in the coming weeks.

“It has been a true honor to work beside Mayor Davis as he has served the people of Bradley County,” Howell said. “We could not ask for a better mayor, and I am proud to call him my friend. I look forward to continuing to help Mayor Davis and supporting him in his re-election next year.”

Howell said over time he has been approached by others about his future interests.

“I look forward to what awaits me next as many in the community have encouraged me to look at other opportunities,” he pointed out.

“I have enjoyed serving the people of Bradley, Polk and Meigs counties as committeeman of the Republican State Executive Committee, and I am eager to continue serving folks throughout Southeast Tennessee.

“The next few weeks and months will be exciting, and I am eager to share my plans very soon."
