Cleveland Bradley Public Library Friends of the Library Association is pleased to announce the Fall Author Event and Membership Drive to be held at the Cleveland Country Club, Oct. 24, beginning at 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

This year’s author is Janie Dempsy Watts.

A Chattanooga native with strong roots in Georgia, she writes both fiction and non-fiction stories.

Her first novel, “Moon Over Taylor’s Ridge” was nominated for a Georgia Author of the Year Award and a S.I.B.A., was a finalist in the Augusta Literary Festival and was chosen as Catoosa County’s 2012 community-wide read.

Her short stories have been published in literary magazines and anthologies. Her non-fiction stories have appeared in the “Chicken Soup for the Soul” series and she pens a column, “Boomerang,” for “Catoosa Life Magazine.”

After many years in California, she returned to Georgia to live near Taylor’s Ridge with her husband, Steve, and an American bulldog, Bella.

Most days she can be found at the family farm caring for her horses, one that she describes as sweet and gentle, and two that are just plain ornery.

Merchants Alley will open at 10 a.m. with vendors listed at a later date. The luncheon will start at noon and book signing following author presentation. Tickets are now on sale at the Library for $35 for individuals and $300 to reserve a table for eight. Tables are great for book clubs.
