Lee University graduate and first-year teacher Makala Cabrera, who started her professional career teaching first grade at Hopewell Elementary School, has just received the news she is 2013 winner of Alpha Theta’s Back-to-School tote bag. Each year in September, Alpha Theta Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, an international sorority for women educators, presents an altruistic tote bag project to a first-year teacher. The Cleveland/Bradley County Federal Credit Union tote bag is full of all the school supply items a new teacher might need. Members donate necessary school items to the tote bag and new teacher names are put in a basket by an ADK member for the chance to win.
