The women of the Junior Auxiliary of Cleveland invite all preschoolers through elementary age children to the 10th annual Teddy Bear Picnic on Saturday at the Cleveland/Bradley Public Library from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The Teddy Bear Picnic was started 10 years ago with the help of Friends of the Library Association to introduce children to the library, its community events and resources, and also to inspire children to get excited about reading and books.

This year’s event will include stations where the children rotate with their parents to fun family activities.

Each registrant will receive a name tag and will complete the activities listed on them.

The activities include face painting, tattoos, balloons, quality take-home crafts, coloring, storytime, puppet show, cookie decorating, play dough, teddy bear ears, free snack bag provided for the first 250 children registered and a free quality book for the first 300 children registered.

All children will have a chance to have their picture taken and printed with our newly named mascot, JAC (Junior Auxiliary of Cleveland) in an elegant and cute setting.

Since its the 10th anniversary, the kids are encouraged to bring their Teddy bears or Lovies decorated in a special way.

The winner of this contest will be named Mr. and Mrs. Teddy Bear Picnic.

Additionally, a bike will be raffled off as a grand prize. And the Chick-Fill-A cow will be on hand to help celebrate too!

“We couldn’t have put on an event this large without community support,” explained Becca Brnik, Teddy Bear Picnic chairman. “We have had a large sponsor campaign this year and are thankful for each and every one [who has] helped with make this event a success.”
