He was retired from Roadway Express after 33 years. He was a member of New Prospect Cumberland Presbyterian Church and was a former elder of Northside Presbyterian Church. He was an avid fisherman and loved the outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Josephine McBrayer.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Audrea Walker McBrayer; one son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Shannon McBrayer; two grandchildren: Jackson and Madeline McBrayer all of Cleveland; two very special “grandboys”: Eli and Ian Milen; special family member, Tim Callihan; three sisters: Brenda Ellis and husband, Greg, of Cleveland, Joyce Blackmon of Turtletown, and Blanche Coleman and husband, Steve, of Murphy, N.C.; one brother, Bruce McBrayer of Farner; and two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: John Cavender and wife, Shelly, and Earl Walker and wife, Belinda, all of Murphy, N.C.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Rev. Heidi Johnson officiating.
Interment will follow in Tasso Cemetery with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.
The family suggests that memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
