The Cleveland Christian School Lady Crusaders started off their 2013 volleyball season hosting Maryville Christian Monday evening.

It took the first game of the match to get their bearings with the CCS ladies eventually losing 25-14. The Lady Crusaders made an impressive recovery with a strong defensive performance from Junior Savannah Morgan in the second game, but fell 25-22.

“Although we lost the final two games 25-22, 25-12, I was impressed with what I saw. We have a lot of work to do, but not a bad performance tonight all in all,” said coach John Mathis.

Acacia Thompson led all players with two blocks, two kills and a dig. Savannah Morgan had two blocks and an ace. Jennifer Corbitt followed with a dig and an ace.

Cleveland Christian returns to the court Tuesday evening, hosting Dogwood Christian from Tunnel Hill, Ga. Middle School games start at 6 p.m. with varsity immediately following.
