Michelle Mawby said someone entered her car and took personal items and fire-related protective gear.
According to a report filed by deputy Daniel Watson of the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office, he spoke with Mawby, who said someone broke into her car, which was parked at her 2nd Street apartment.
Bunker gear including boots, gloves, helmet, pants and a jacket were among items taken which were assigned to her.
Change, a Zippo lighter and a phone charger were also missing from the car.
According to a representative with BCFR, the bunker gear does have serial numbers and was valued at approximately $2,500.
- Tennessee Highway Patrol will be conducting Roadside Safety Checkpoints in Bradley and Polk counties. The checkpoints are being planned to coincide with the beginning of the school year.
A Safety Belt Checkpoint will be held in Bradley County on Aug. 9.
Driver’s License Roadside Safety Checkpoints will be established in Polk County beginning Aug. 11.
The checkpoints will be set up in random location in the county.
According to THP officials, checkpoints are an effective means of recognizing the dangers presented to the driving public by motorists who would violate the laws of the state.
All scheduled checkpoints are contingent upon weather conditions and manpower availability.
