He was born to proud parents, Wayne and Ida Harvey of the Michigan Avenue Community, on Feb. 6, 1925. He attended Michigan Avenue Elementary School for eight years, was a Bradley High School graduate in 1943 and graduated from National School of Business.
He served with the U.S. Army’s 7th Armored Division in Germany during World War II. After serving with the Army in 1944 and 1945, he returned home to Cleveland and began working at the Princess Theater, remaining in theater work for 45 years while serving as manager of the Bohemia, Princess, Village and Carmike Four Theaters, all in Cleveland, until his retirement in 1990.
He was a dedicated member of Big Spring United Methodist Church until he was unable to attend in 2009.
He was a life member of the 7th Armored Division and Will Rogers, and a former member of the VFW, American Legion and the Lions Club for many years.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty Harvey; parents, Wayne and Ida Harvey; two sisters: Blanche Hawkins and Frances Bagby; and three brothers: Clarence (Bud) Harvey, Walter Harvey and Carlos Harvey.
Survivors include a stepson, Don Alan Mullinax and wife, Jodi, of Cleveland; grandsons: Tyler and Corey Mullinax; granddaughter, Rebecca Maples; and 13 nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, July 26, 2013, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Rev. Ray Petty officiating.
A private interment will be held for the family.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 this evening, July 25, 2013, at the funeral home.
