He was born in Idaho and raised near Rochester, N.Y. and in 1949 married his next door neighbor and sweetheart, Edith Richardson.
He was the son of the late Cora Wismer Nudd and Ashley Nudd. His daughter, Lynne Marie Nudd Bandel, and his sister, Gladys Burke, also preceded him in death.
He was a partner of Nichols-Wyman Lumber Co. in Rochester. In 1980 he relocated to Cleveland where he first worked in real estate and then at his son’s business, Bradley Awning and Siding.
His family was always a priority and he carefully balanced business ownership and family time. A college education for each child was his priority.
His hobbies included gardening and he found great pleasure working outdoors on his lawn. In 1984, his home was selected as Bradley County Yard of the Month. He also piloted his own plane. He was a member of the Bowman Hills Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Edith Richardson Nudd of Cleveland; son, Garry Nudd and his wife, Donna; daughter, Diane; his son, Randy Nudd and his wife, Eileen; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and his brother, Fred Nudd.
The Remembrance of Life service will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at 11 a.m. from the North Ocoee Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes and will be shared by his grandson, Pastor Tabor Nudd and his pastor, Dwight Herod.
Interment will follow in the Collegedale Memorial Park with his grandsons: Garrett Nudd, Brandon Nudd, Pastor Tabor Nudd, Aaron Bandel, Matthew Bandel and Benjamin Nudd serving as pallbearers.
