Just a few days ago Cleveland High’s Chris DeBien earned Greco-Roman All-American honors as he claimed a second place finish in the 120 pound division at the USA Wrestling Cadet National Championships in Fargo, N.D.

Going 10-1 with seven technical fall wins, DeBien was bested by Gabriel Townsell, who is representing the state of Illinois, in the championship match.

This past April, DeBien finished second in the USA Folkstyle Nationals in Iowa. DeBien is also a two-time state champion at 113 pounds.

DeBien is one of two Tennessee wrestlers who finished in the top eight, with Baylor’s Michael Murphy claiming a fourth place finish at 106 pounds.

Currently, Tennessee is in 19th place at Fargo with 12 points. Illinois leads the pack of 32 competing states with 86 points.

The Blue Raider and recent University of Tennessee-Chattanooga commitment is gearing up for the start of three days of competition at the Freestyle Nationals, which begins today.
