The Lee University Baseball Prospect Camp set for July 20 still has openings for 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016 grads. The prospect camp will be conducted by coaching staff’s from Lee, Vanderbilt University and the University of Tennessee. Other college coaches will be in attendance. U.S. Baseball Academy will offer a My Pro Day for ages 6-18 at Cleveland State Community College, under the direction of CSCC head coach, Mike Policastro Aug. 6 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at Cougar Field. The Cleveland State Baseball program will offer a five week fall instructional league for high school aged players beginning Aug. 12 through September 15. Players will have the opportunity to further develop baseball skills through instruction and games. Fundamental basketball skills development training conducted by Vincent Yarbrough will be available on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday for the duration of the summer at Cleveland High School. Sessions will last 90 minutes. Yarbrough, a former Cleveland Blue Raider, was a 1998 McDonald’s High School All-American and was All-SEC at Tennessee. He was drafted by the Denver Nuggets of the NBA. The Triple Threat Basketball Camp for rising 1st-10th grade boys and girls will take place July 22-25 at Mayfield and Cleveland Middle Schools. Skills taught will vary by age group. Each session will be intense and is recommended only for players willing to work hard and improve their game. The cost for the camp is $100 with a $25 deposit to hold a spot. Groups will be divided by age with 1st-3rd graders going from 8-10 a.m. at Mayfield, 4th-6th graders from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at CMS and 7th-10th graders from 2-4 p.m. at CMS. Cleveland State Men's Basketball Coach Lee Cigliano will be conducting summer youth basketball camp July 22-25 for ages 6-15. The camp will run from 9 a.m.-noon. The Bradley County/Cleveland Fall Sports Registration will be held July 27, Aug. 2 and 3 at the Bradley County Recreation Park on Urbane Road. The Saturday sign ups will be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., while the Friday evening session will run from 6-8. The fall program includes football and cheerleadering, as well as baseball and softball. The cost for football, which is for ages 7-12, is $80, while baseball and softball, ages 5-12, is $45. Walker Valley youth Camp

The Walker Valley Football Youth Camp will take place July 15-18 from 9-11:30 a.m. at the WVHS football field. Registration will be held the day of that camp. The cost is $60 and includes a camp T-shirt. Lunch will be provided. for more information, contact Glen Ryan at 336-1383.

The fourth annual Bradley Pigskin Open will be held July 21 at Chatata Valley Golf Club. The entry fee is $60 per player or $240 per team. Lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m. with a shotgun start at 2. For more information, contact the Bear Football Office at (423)476-0602.


The Bradley County Juniors Golf Clinic for ages 5-17 will be held at Cleveland Country Club on July 22, 29. Ages 5-10 will go from 8-9:30 a.m. and ages 11-17 will go from 9:45-11:15. Ladies City Tournament

The Ladies City Golf Tournament will be held July 17 at Chatata Valley and July 18 at Cleveland Country Club. In addition to the ladies division, there will be a separate junior girls division for ages 14–19. The entry fee is $25 and the deadline for paid entries is July 12. The ninth annual Cleveland Country Club Men’s Invitational will take place July 20-21. Amateur golfers from Cleveland and surrounding areas will have the opportunity to earn points for the 2013 Chattanooga TPC Championship. The field is open to all amateur golfers and will consist of the first 144 paid entrants. The entry deadline is July 17 or until a full field is reached. The entry fee is $135 and includes two rounds of tournament golf, one practice round ranges balls and lunch Saturday and Sunday. Flights will be determined after the first round. The annual Gary Smith Memorial Golf Tournament will be held Aug. 10 at the Chatata Valley Golf Club on Benton Pike in Cleveland. The event which benefits the Bradley Central Bear and Bearette basketball programs, will have an 8:30 shotgun start with registration beginning at 7:30 and lunch immediately following morning play. The two-man select shot format will have two flights with a nine-hole blind draw to determine flights. First and second place awards from each flight, as well as prizes for the longest drive, straightest drive, closest-to-the-pin and door prizes will be given out. The cost is $50 per person. Walker Valley High School will be holding tryouts for the 2013-2014 softball team July 22 from 5-6:30 p.m. at Larry Haney Field on the campus of Walker Valley High School. Ocoee Middle School will be holding tryouts for the 2013 softball team on July 15 at 6:30 p.m. at Larry Haney Field on the campus of Walker Valley High School. Tryouts will be closed. The Walker Valley High School volleyball team will host its annual middle school camp July 22-24 from 12 noon-2 p.m. at the Ocoee Middle School gym. The cost is $30. Athletes may register starting at 11:30 a.m. on July 22. The camp is for girls in grades 5-8 wanting to learn the basics of volleyball. Bradley Central High School will host the third annual Jordan Leen’s National Champ Training Camp July 19-20. The special wrestling event will have three sessions, running from 5:30-8 on Friday evening, plus 10 a.m. until noon and 4-6 p.m. Saturday. The camp is for middle, high school and advanced kids.
