Sunday morning storms in Bradley, McMinn and Polk County resulted in outages for Volunteer Energy Cooperative customers.

Lightning caused a brief outage for the Tennessee Valley Authority at its East Cleveland substation. As a result, five VEC substations served by the TVA facility lost power to Ocoee, Cleveland, Georgetown, Tasso, McDonald and Riceville substations. Approximately 22,000 customers were out of power for approximately 30 minutes beginning at 7:30 a.m.

Otherwise, scattered outages caused by downed trees and lightning activity affected about 1,500 customers in the Bradley, Polk, McMinn and Roane County areas.

All storm-related outages were restored by midday Sunday.
