Students of Rita Ready, Judy Warrington, Vera Voznyuk, Megan Castleberry and Hannah Daulton were featured. A variety of classical pieces were performed as well as ballet, vocal selections and violin. The program ended with a performance by dance instructor Castleberry dancing “Gravity,” by Sara Bareilles.
Those participating in the recital on the piano were Lane Estrado, Eli Blake, Julie Edwards, Emily Powers, Michael Winters, Maddie Morris, Haley Cabrera, Mattie Moore, Brayden Maness, Maria Dunn, Makhia Franklin, Jim Rox and Luke Morrison. Isabel Adkins, Joelee Fugate, Jane Anderson and Esther Brantley each played a violin solo. Addie Smith, Ashlyn Brown, Ava Rahamut, Kira Phelps, Owen Smith and Maggie Creel performed ballet selections. Vocal performances were given by Abigail Jackson and Emmie Boston.
The academy has added a new violin instructor, Pat Roberts, to its staff. Roberts is a graduate of Lee University, majoring in music with an instrumental emphasis. She has had a successful studio in the Philadelphia area, as well as teaching at the Wayne (Pa.) Art Center. She also taught at the Perkins Center for the Arts Conservator in Moorestown, N.J. Roberts was a member of the Haddonfield Symphony, the Philharmonic of Southern New Jersey and the Southcoast Symphony. She has studies with Jerry Wigler of the Philadelphia Orchestia, Paul Manaster, current associate concert master of the Pacific Symphony, and Danielle Belem at the Colburn School in Los Angeles, as well as Xioaqing Yu at Lee.
Westmore Academy offers private instruction in piano, violin and guitar, as well as other instruments. Classes in ballet, hip-hop, creative movement and contemporary dance are offered as well. Kindermusik for children ages newborn to 7 is also offered, with teacher Dee Lancaster. Summer classes are offered as well.
