To The Editor:

When reading the article about the two officers saving the 13-year-old boy from the flooding creek, I really thought this was divine intervention. There have been many “what if’s” that have crossed my mind.

What if Sgt. Rogers had not returned to the flooding creek?

What if Deputy Long had not been in the area?

What if neither officer could swim? This proves what excellent physical shape these officers are in.

What if the young man had been swept away by the strong current with no one around to see him?

We would have had a sad tragedy for his family and the community.

I commend the quick action of these officers in preventing a tragic accident. We do not begin to comprehend the dangers these officers face every time they put on their uniforms and leave their families to protect us. They put their lives on the line every day to make sure our community is safe.

I give a big shout of THANKS to Sgt. Rogers and Deputy Long. They are a wonderful example of our law enforcement and a wonderful example for our young people and community.

Thank you so much.
