However, these are no ordinary high school graduates. Although intelligent, each of these Bachman Academy students has struggled greatly to achieve this milestone. These graduates have been diagnosed with one or more learning disabilities that have made the process of learning more difficult than it is for the average student.
With personalized instruction designed to draw upon their academic strengths, these graduates have been able to gain the skills that can lead them to success in their chosen fields. Most plan to attend college, and will pursue degrees in fine art, international relations, education, zoology, digital media design and dentistry. One graduate also plans to join the military.
Bachman’s mission is to empower students who have learning differences to develop the skills and values necessary for success in our global community. As a boarding and day school for children in grades 6-12 who learn differently, Bachman provides a language-rich program of study emphasizing active learning. In addition to college-prep academics, the academy offers career education in equestrian, mechanics, woodworking and horticulture. Bachman Academy is dually accredited by the Southern Association of Independent Schools and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
