Upper School Awards Day
Seniors Julian Nunally and Eric Wolf have received McCallie’s top two awards.
The school’s senior class of 2013, one touted by school administrators as exceptional, was well represented in May at the annual Awards Day.
Faculty and staff honored boys who have excelled in all facets of school life at McCallie. The top three awards — The Grayson Medal, the Campbell Award and the Keo-Kio Distinguished Teacher Award — were presented.
Julian Nunally, a day student from Chattanooga, is the winner of the Grayson Medal. Eric Wolf, a day student from Cleveland, received the Campbell Award.
The Grayson Medal is considered the school’s highest honor, given to the senior whose character and actions most embody the heart of McCallie’s mission. The winner is selected by a vote of the Upper School student body, faculty, the Senate and Student Council.
The Campbell Award is presented to the Grayson Medal runner-up.
This year’s Distinguished Teacher recipient is Science chair Cissy May, a member of the faculty since 1983.
Day one of the Upper School Awards focused primarily on outstanding achievement in various classroom and academic settings. The second day was devoted to achievements in extracurricular activities and honored boys with exceptional character and leadership traits.
