Kansas City, Mo. — Lee University’s Florian Loutre has been named Southern States Athletic Conference and NAIA national men’s Golfer of the Week. Loutre was selected based on his performance from April 15–21. He was chosen from a pool of conference, independent and unaffiliated groups of golfer of the week selections.

The freshman from Le Mans, France, was instrumental in leading the Flames to the Southern States Athletic Conference tournament championship last weekend at Lagoon Park in Montgomery, Ala. Loutre fired rounds of 70, 67, 70 to claim medalist honors with a score of 7-under par in the 54-hole tournament, topping a field of 55 individuals from 11 teams.

“I’m happy for Florian because he’s been through a lot of adversity this year, and I know it’s been a struggle at times,” said Lee golf coach John Maupin. “He showed his ability this week though, minus 7 (for 54 holes) is just incredible.”

Loutre and the Flames have their sights on the NAIA National Tournament at Creekside Golf Club in Salem, Ore. The 72-hole tournament will take place May 14-17.
