BENTON — Bradley Central’s softball squad went to the foot of the Polk County mountains Tuesday to claim a hard fought victory over the host Lady Wildcats.

The Bearettes (6-15) built a big lead then held off a six-run Polk rally in the bottom of the seventh inning to claim the 9-7 win.

After the hosts drew first blood with a run in the first frame, Bradley scored the game’s next nine runs, including five in the third, two in the fifth and two more in the top of the seventh inning.

A half dozen Lady Wildcats (15-10) were able to circle the bases in the game’s final at bat, but it turned out to be too little, too late.

Senior Allison Conley struck out seven on her way to the pitching victory, while classmate Tori Roberts and sophomore Chanler Grady both had a pair if hits to lead the 11-hit Bearette offense. Freshman Chelsea Sadler ripped a double for the visitors.

With Polk committing nine errors in the contest, only two of the runs Hannah Triplett (4-5) surrendered were earned.

Lily Cozzort went 2-for-4 for the hosts, plus drove in a pair of runs, while Lydia Triplett had a double, scored twice and plated a pair of teammates. Kaitlyn Williams also laced a two-bagger.
