He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, George William Sartin.
He was a graduate of Central High School in Chattanooga.
He was a glass installer for 14 years, and at the time of his death he was working for William Fugate Construction. He enjoyed hunting and working on cars. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Lynn Sartin, of Georgetown; he was a loving father to his two sons: Brian Aaron Sartin and Nathan Gage Sartin, both of Georgetown; his mother, Vivian Prather and her husband, Ronnie, of McMinnville; his father, Butch Shirley and his wife, Carol, of Whitwell; his sister, Andrea Barnette and her husband, Guy, of McMinnville; maternal grandmother, Vonza Morton of Rossville, Ga.; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Remembrance of Life graveside service and interment will be held Thursday, April 25, 2013, at 3 p.m. in Bettis Cemetery with Pastor Gary Sears officiating.
The pallbearers will be Brian Tallent, Eric Hayes, Richard Raines, Robert Mauro, Jimmy Shirley and Billy Stewart.
The family will receive friends Thursday from noon to 2 p.m. at the Wildwood Avenue Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes.
