She was the daughter of the late Lillian and Elmer Nelson. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Peggy Perkins.
She graduated from high school in Paramount, Calif., and received an associate of arts degree from Tomlinson College in Cleveland.
She served as a secretary for State Farm Insurance in Baton Rouge, La., for a number of years and she retired from Jimmy Swaggart Theological Seminary as a secretary.
She enjoyed working with children and was the founder and director of the Gingerbread House Day Care here in Cleveland.
She was a member of Peerless Road Church of God of Prophecy.
Survivors include her husband, James Stone, of Chattanooga; her daughters: Dana LaFern Story and her husband, Patrick, of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Keisha Hunt of Chattanooga; son, Shawn Randall Stone and his wife, Robinn, of Ooltewah; her grandchildren: Brittany Stone, Raven Hunt, Joshua Hunt, Amber Hunt, Summer Story and Treasure Hunt; her brothers: Ray Nelson of Albuquerque, N.M., and Al Nelson of Sacramento, Calif.; her sisters-in-law: Barbara Newlun and her husband, Don, of Edmonton, Okla., and Fern Wood and her husband, Verlin, of Coweta, Okla.; her brothers-in-law: Pastor John A. Stone and his wife, Judy, of Cleveland, and Pastor Duke Stone and his wife, Shirlene, of Chattanooga; and several nieces and nephews.
The Remembrance of Life graveside service and interment will be held Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at 1 p.m. from the Sunset Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the North Ocoee Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes.
