The Adult Summer Reading Program, “Groundbreaking Reads,” will begin sign-ups on April 22 and continue throughout the summer. All participants will receive a bookmark and reading log at registration. The “Legacy of Floyd Cramer” will be presented by the Cleveland-Bradley Concert Association, April 25 at 7 p.m. at the Conn Center. The concert features Jason Coleman, grandson of the legendary pianist.
After Hours for teens will include food, fun and improv games in the Teen Zone April 27 beginning at 7 p.m.
The Mother-Daughter Tea will be May 11. Reservations for this event are being accepted at the Children’s Room Desk or by calling 472-2163.
Children’s Book Week is May 13-19. Special activities at the library are planned for this weeklong event in the Children’s Department including a visit from the Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra String Quintet, May 14 at 4:30 p.m. Ventriloquist Asa Diamond and his friend Charlie will close the celebration with “Go Fetch a Book” on May 18 at 3 p.m. in the Community Room. This fun program is for the whole family. Upcoming Children’s events this week include; Family Game Night in the Community Room April 22 at 7 p.m., and ArtZone for Tweens on April 24 at 4:30 p.m. in the Story Time Room.
Polk County Education Foundation will have a fundraising dinner on May 25 for the scholarship program. Guest speaker will be Dr. Roger Crouch, a 1958 PCHS graduate, who is an astronaut and has been on two space flights. Tickets are available from any foundation member: Jane Lawson, Carolyn Gerry, Dr. Phyllis Miller, Jerry Stephens, Wilma Jean Pippenger or Matt Witt.
Foundation House Ministries, which will open in May, is seeking volunteers to teach Bible studies, crafts, tutoring, cooking classes, parenting and nutrition classes.
