She was born in Sevier County, but lived most of her life in Cleveland. She was a longtime member of Westmore Church of God. She enjoyed gardening and canning and was an accomplished oil painting artist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Nichols; and parents, Jess and Cansada Randolph Silver.
She is survived by her children: Suzanne Shelley and husband, Kenneth, of Hattiesburg, Miss., Joseph Nichols and wife, Phyllis, of Cleveland, Steven Nichols and wife, Patty, of Fair Hope, Ala., and Sydney Young and husband, Mark, of Columbus, Miss.; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Lucille Crouse of North Carolina; nephews: Bob Griffith and wife, Wanda, and Eddie Griffith and wife, Linda, all of Cleveland; and numerous extended family members.
The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013, in the chapel of Grissom Funeral Home with the Rev. Wendell Smith officiating.
Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
